Nanovations 3001 The Trusted Bulk Impregnation Agent For Cement Based Materials is Now Available Australia-Wide to Everyone.

Indroduced 2006, by Nanovations Pty Ltd, 3001 has been a staple in the Australian construction industry for nearly two decades.

Nanovations has been at the forefront of introducing the bulk impregnation technology in Australia since 2006. Since 2013, our 3001 additive has been available through a third-party distributor; however, this arrangement has now concluded.

We are pleased to announce that Nanovations 3001 additive is once again available directly from us. By coming straight to the source, you can now enjoy direct supply with lower prices, streamlined logistics, and the same proven performance you’ve relied on for nearly 20 years.. Get the same high-performance, VOC-free protection you’ve trusted since 2006, now with the cost efficiency of a direct orders or partnership. We supply the product in 1 Litre , 20 Litre and 1000 Litre IBC

What is bulk impregnation or what is a hydrophobic agent?

Mass hydrophobic treatment of cement-based materials is a technique that involves incorporating hydrophobic agents directly into the mixture during the batching process. This ensures that the material is water-repellent throughout its entire structure, so that even if the surface is damaged, the newly exposed interior remains hydrophobic.

3001 Hydrophobic Agent is a high-concentration admixture designed for seamless and permanent integration of hydrophobic water repellent effects into any cement-based material and for the permanent hydrophobic bulk impregnation of any cement-based construction materials. One simple addition embeds a permanent, lifelong barrier against moisture, rising damp, and efflorescence.

Unlike a surface coating or a sealer that is always exposed to the harsh Australian environment, that can crack, peel, or wear off over time, 3001 is mixed directly into the screed, render, or concrete material. That way it becomes a permanent part of the substrate’s mass material.

Once mixed, the agent reacts chemically with the calcium silicate hydrate in the cement. This process lines the internal pores with a water-repellent layer.

Crucially, this does not block the pores. This allows the material to remain vapour-permeable (it can “breathe”), but it fundamentally changes the surface energy of the capillaries.

Instead of water being sucked in, it is actively pushed out. And this works throughout the whole thickness of the material. So for example if your paver is 40mm thick, your water repellent effect works through the complete 40mm.

This creates a permanent, lifelong barrier against moisture, rising damp, and efflorescence and stops moss and algae surface related concrete discolorations permanently as well.

Its penetration and subsequent chemical reaction with the concrete allow it to provide permanent protection for cement based materials by significantly reducing the ingress of any dissolved salts that the water may carry or that is coming from salt contaminated sand and aggregates.

Instead of applying a water repellent sealer or coating to the surface after the concrete has cured, this method integrates the protection directly into the “DNA” of the cement based during the mixing phase.

Key Benefits of Bulk Impregnation

By adding these agents directly to the cement based dry mix during the mixing procedure or manufacturing process, one can achieve a complete hydrophobic treatment of the bulk material. Here is how that translates to performance:

Long-Term Durability: Since the protection is throughout the entire material, surface wear or minor chips don’t expose untreated concrete. This is a permanent solution !

No more permanent wet tile screeds and slaps under pavers: 3001 not only permanently stops efflorescence but also helps to reduce water coming from the ground up towards the surface. Like internal and external tiled areas and pool surroundings etc. There is no more salt and chlorine getting sucked into the capillary system. A drier bathroom screed also helps to reduce mould.

No more Efflorescence: Without the water carrier in the capilarry system, salt cannot move arround and never will reach the surface of the screed , render, concrete or mortar. This permanetly blocks the migration of salts to the surface, preventing that unsightly white powdery buildup.

Environmental Resistance: Significant reduction in water and chloride (salt) adsorption, which is critical for preventing rebar corrosion and improving freeze-thaw resistance in cold climate.

Structural Integrity: Observations show a reduction in shrinkage cracks during the curing process.
